Bag Tags
Understand how digital bag tags work and track league rankings.
What Are Bag Tags?
Bag tags are a popular disc golf tradition that Dynasty brings into the digital age. Each player in a league receives a numbered tag (starting from #1). After each event, tags are redistributed based on results — the better you play, the lower (better) your tag number.
How Tags Are Assigned
Tags are initially assigned when a league is created with bag tags enabled, or when a new member joins a tag-enabled league. New players receive the next available tag number. After each event, tags are redistributed based on the final standings.
How Tag Redistribution Works
After an event ends and scores are finalized, tags are automatically redistributed:
- 1st place receives Tag #1, 2nd place gets Tag #2, and so on.
- Ties are broken by the player's incoming tag number — the player holding the lower tag going into the event keeps the better position.
- Players who didn't participate keep their tag number as long as it hasn't been forfeited due to expiry. Forfeited tags enter the redistribution pool, and those players are pushed to worse positions.
- New members who play their first event are slotted into rankings based on their finish.
Tag Stats
Dynasty tracks detailed statistics for each bag tag:
- Personal best — the lowest tag number you've ever held.
- Current streak — consecutive events holding or improving your position.
- Longest streak — your best-ever holding streak.
- Total defenses — times you kept or improved your tag.
- Total losses — times your tag number went up (worse).
- Movement tracking — see if you moved up, down, or held after each event.
Tag Expiry
Coordinators can optionally set a tag expiry period (1–12 weeks). If a player doesn't participate in any event within that window, their tag is forfeited and made available for redistribution. This keeps the tag leaderboard active and rewards consistent participation. Players who forfeit a tag can reclaim one by playing in the next event.
Wallet Passes
Your bag tag can be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet as a digital pass. The pass displays your current tag number, league name, and key stats. It updates automatically whenever your tag changes after an event.
Season Transitions
When a new season starts, coordinators choose how tags are handled:
- Carryover — tag rankings from the previous season carry into the new one.
- Reset — all tags are reassigned fresh, starting from 1.
