Events & Scoring
Running events, entering scores, and understanding standings.
Event Lifecycle
Events in Dynasty follow a clear lifecycle. Understanding each stage helps coordinators run smooth events and players know what to expect.
- Scheduled — Event is on the calendar but hasn't started yet.
- Check-in — Registration is open; players can check in for the event.
- Active — Event is live; scoring is in progress.
- Ended — All scores finalized; standings and tag redistribution complete.
Check-In
Before an event starts, coordinators can open check-in to let players register their attendance. Check-in can be configured to open automatically before the event or require manual activation. Once check-in closes, only checked-in players can be assigned to cards.
Cards (Playing Groups)
Players are organized into cards (playing groups) for each event. Cards are optimized for groups of 4, but Dynasty handles any group size (3–5 players). Cards can be created in three ways:
- Automatic random — checked-in players are randomly grouped.
- Manual — coordinators hand-pick card assignments.
- Participant-created — players form their own groups (if enabled by coordinators).
Scoring Methods
Dynasty supports multiple ways to enter scores for standard events:
- Manual entry — coordinators or card members enter total strokes directly.
- UDisc import — import scores from a UDisc tournament export file. Dynasty matches player names automatically and lets you manually map any unmatched players.
- Live scoring — players check in and submit scores from the course in real time.
How Standings Work
After scores are submitted, Dynasty calculates standings automatically. For standard events, players are ranked by total strokes (lower is better). Ties use standard competition ranking — if two players tie for 2nd, they both get 2nd place and the next rank is 4th. Points are awarded based on rank for league-wide season standings.
What Happens After an Event Ends
When an event is finalized:
- Final standings are locked in.
- Bag tags are redistributed (if enabled).
- Player ratings are updated.
- Activity feed entries are created for all participants.
- Season standings are recalculated.
Auto-Close
Events that go stale are automatically closed to keep your league tidy. An event in "scheduled" status is auto-closed after 48 hours past its date. An active event with no scores is auto-closed after 7 days. Events can also auto-close when all cards are finalized or the end date passes.
