Player Ratings
How player skill ratings are calculated and what they mean.
What Are Player Ratings?
Player ratings in Dynasty are a numerical representation of a player's skill level within a league. They update after each event based on your performance relative to other players in the field. Ratings help coordinators organize divisions and give players a sense of their progression.
How Ratings Are Calculated
Ratings are updated automatically after each event is finalized:
- For standard events: Your score is compared against the field average. Beating the average raises your rating; scoring below it lowers your rating. The magnitude of the change depends on your margin and the strength of the field.
- For putting events: Ratings are based on your putting accuracy (makes vs. attempts) compared to the league average accuracy.
When Ratings Appear
New players start without a visible rating. By default, a player must complete at least 3 events before their rating is shown. This "minimum events" threshold ensures ratings have enough data to be meaningful. Coordinators can adjust this threshold in division settings.
Rating History
Dynasty keeps a full history of your rating changes. Each entry records your rating before and after the event, the change amount, and which event triggered it. You can view your rating trend over time from your profile or the league insights screen.
Ratings vs. Bag Tags
Ratings and bag tags measure different things:
- Ratings reflect overall skill level and change gradually based on performance over time.
- Bag tags reflect current season rankings and change after every event based on standings.
- A player with a high rating is consistently skilled; a player with a low tag number performed well recently.
